Omaha Metropolitan Amateur Hockey Association is pleased to announce that John Thomas has been hired for the position of Coaching Director beginning Wednesday March 19, 2008.
John Thomas Biography
John began playing hockey in Lincoln Park, MI, at the age of 4. From Mites to Bantams (A & AA) John skated for his hometown team; the Lincoln Park Kings, and helped win three State Championships and a National Championship (1995 Pee Wee AA). In 1998 he made the move to AAA hockey, and played two years for Detroit Honeybaked (U16 & U18). In 1999 John captained his Honeybaked U18 team to a Michigan State Championship.
The following year John accepted a tender from the Omaha Lancers in the USHL Junior A hockey league. In 2001 he helped his team to both a Clark Cup and a National Championship. The following year John was named team MVP as he led the team in goals and helped steer the Lancers to an Anderson Cup Championship. That season, John accepted a full athletic scholarship to the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Upon graduation in May 2006, John went on to play professional hockey for the Kalamazoo K-Wings (UHL) and the Toledo Storm (ECHL). In July of 2007 he accepted the position of Skill Director at Complete Hockey Omaha. John will finish is Master in Business Administration in the spring of 2009.
