Please plan to attend and support the Tribute to Motto McLean on Friday February 12, 2010 from 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm at the rink that bears his name: the Motto McLean Ice Arena. There will be a skills session and short game for the kids from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm followed by two hockey games featuring players and friends who have played for or with Motto. $10 donation at the door.

A fire broke out about 6:30 pm Saturday January 16, 2010 at the Motto and Dorothy McLean home trapping and critically injuring Dorothy McLean (wife of Motto McLean), killing their dog and causing approximately $33,000 damage to their home. Dorothy is currently being treated at Creighton University Medical Center.

Leap for a Cure’s “Stache for Cash”

Omaha Lancer Coach Bliss Littler is participating in “Stache for Cash” for the Leap for a Cure cancer foundation. He started growing out his mustache on January 22, 2010 and will get to continue to do so as long as his donations keep coming in.
Leap for a Cure was started in Omaha by Heather Roberts’ family after she was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2008. You can read more about her story at www.leapforacure.org/
Heather was previously employed by the Omaha Lancers Hockey Organization and is still attending many Lancers games. She is a phenomenal young lady!!
How can you help?? Visit the Leap for a Cure website and donate toward this foundation. On the website is a “Donate” link. There you can enter your information, under organization type in Lancers, and in the comment box type “Bliss Littler”. Bliss is joined with his “stache” growth by other local celebrities and UNO hockey team. This Saturday will be the first elimination of 5 contestants. The next elimination will be on the following Saturday and the final’s will be February 26th!! The contestant with the most donations will be named Mr. Omaha and help this great cause.

Jr. Lancers Shattuck Invitational Champions!

The O.M.A.H.A Jr. Lancer Majors played in the Shattuck St. Mary’s Invitational Tournament the weekend of January 29-31, 2010. The Jr. Lancers beat the Fort William Canadiens 5-0 Friday night. On Saturday they lost a hard fought game against host Shattuck 3-1, but then recovered against another Canadian team the Westend Bruins 10-1. The Jr. Lancers then faced Shattuck again in the semi-finals Sunday morning, beating them 4-3 in a shootout. The Jr. Lancers beat the Westend Bruins in the championship game 9-0 Sunday afternoon. 2010 Shattuck Invitational brackets
