Squirt AA News

The Jr. Maverick Squirt AA team played the Midwest League finals in the Quad Cities on February 6th and 7th. In the preliminary rounds they beat Des Moines 9-2, and had a tough 4-3 win against Quad Cities. The Jr. Mavs beat the KC Saints 5-0 to win the championship. Congratulations Squirt AA!

O.M.A.H.A. Squirt AA Jr. Maverick team played in the Jan. 11-15 Silver Stick Tournament in Sarnia Ontario. They began their tournament play on Friday morning vs. a Canadian team, the Lincoln Blades. They won 5-2. The Jr. Mavs beat the Sarnia Sting in an impressive 9-3 win. They met the New Jersey Bandits on Saturday afternoon, and continued their winning streak with a 5-1 win. The team advanced to the semi-finals and defeated the Front Range Panthers 5-2. The Squirts played the Southpoint Capitals in the finals. This Canadian team battled the Jr. Mavs in an exciting double overtime match. The Mavs lost in the second overtime when the puck took a bad bounce off the referee’s skate, and the Capitals took advantage. Congratulations of a fantastic runner-up finish in the 2010 Silver Stick Tournament!

The O.M.A.H.A. Jr. Mavs Squirt AA team went undefeated in the Midwest Hockey Tournament they hosted the weekend of Dec 5-6 at Moylan Iceplex. The tournament results and game scores can be found HERE.

The O.M.A.H.A. Jr. Maverick Squirt AA team won the Chicago Thanksgiving Classic the weekend of November 27-29. The Junior Mavs won 7-1 over the Kalamazoo K-wings, 9-4 over the Naperville Sabres and 5-2 over the Ft. Wayne Komets. They met the Komets again in the semi-finals and beat them again 6-3. The Jr. Mavs defeated the Affton Americans in the finals. They scored the go-ahead goal in the last 1:28 of the game to win 5-4.

The O.M.A.H.A. Jr. Mavericks Squirt AA team won the Ft Wayne, IN Regional Silver Stick Tournament held November 13-16, 2009. The Jr. Mavs beat the Columbus Flames 7-2, Cincinnati 8-0, Evanston Thunder 18-1, Ft Wayne 3-1 and beat the South Bend Irish 1-0 in the Championship game. The Jr. Mavs now advance to the International finals in Sarnia, Ontario January 15-18, 2010.
