Girls team tryout will be held:

$10/player (cash/check – if paying by check, please make payable to Omaha Hockey Club)

 

*Any balances owed from the previous season must be paid in full before the player will be allowed on the ice. No exceptions.

 

All players trying out must be registered with USA Hockey for the 2013-14 season & provide the registration number at sign-in.

(USA Hockey REQUIRES that anyone trying out to compete in the upcoming season must be registered for that season)

There will NOT be an option to select a girls team on the online form. Please select the age appropriate house division for your daughter. I will be checking the registrations regularly and will make sure pull your daughter to our list. 

 

What are the different teams/age groups?

 

We will have girls teams in the following divisions & will select teams based on age & ability:

 

U19/Varsity - ages 14-19

U16/JV - ages 13-16

U12 - ages 9-12

 

The U19 & U16 teams participate in the Tier II Heartland Midwest League (5 weekends, 20 games) & the U12's play a limited tournament schedule (3-4 weekends, 3-4 games each) in South Dakota, Southern Minnesota & possibly Iowa.

 

We also plan to have girls from these teams play in the OHC House League at the Squirt, PeeWee & Bantamlevels (Bantam games will be non-checking). The girls are allowed to play down an age level if necessary, but we will attempt to roster for the best competitive experience. That results in an additional 12-16 games or so.

 

We do not intend to turn away any girls who wish to be a part of this. We are used to a variety of talent levels. If you are unsure your daughter is ready to compete, please bring her to tryouts. We will let you know if she is better served by spending a season in IP.

 

What are the costs involved with girls house/travel?

 

Cost will be $650 (the base house league cost) plus an additional amount for the extra practice ice & tournaments. I usually estimate this additional amount to be in the area of $400-$500. I try to estimate high (haven’t failed so far, knock on wood), but the final costs will have much to do with the number of players rostered

 

When & how often do teams practice/play games?

 

1)      For U12, the schedule will generally be 1 weeknight practice (night TBD), 1 Saturday house practice & 1 Sunday House game, except when they travel.

2)      For U16/U19, practice will be twice a week on weeknights and they will generally have a house game on Sunday when they are not out of town.
