Join the fun, and raise money for Parkinson's research

On Friday, January 26 through Saturday, January 27, 2018, the UNMC Ice Rink will host its annual UNMC Skate-a-thon for Parkinson’s with skaters hitting the ice for 24 straight hours to raise money for Parkinson’s research.

Skating will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 26 and conclude at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 27. The event is open to the public, with the cost for skaters being $15. Skaters will be on the ice continually, but non-skaters are encouraged to come and enjoy the festivities and show their support. Want to join the fun? Register today! Can't be there to skate? Donate.

The Junior Lancers High School JV and Varsity team will be on the ice from 6:00 pm - 11 pm Friday January 26th and invite you to come skate with the team and support Parkinson's Disease.

About the Skate-a-thon for Parkinson's

The skate-a-thon was the idea of an Omaha couple, Ted and the late Colleen Wuebben, who hosted their own skate-a-thon by flooding their back yard. Colleen was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2005 at the age of 52. She died in 2013. Even after Colleen's death, Ted and their five children have continued to hold the 24-hour skating event. Since moving the skate-a-thon to UNMC in 2011, the event has raised more than $140,000. An all-time record 540 skaters participated in 2015.
