Attention Omaha Hockey Club Families,

The U16 & U18 AAA Hockey Players are in need of Billet Families for the upcoming 2011-2012 season.

Some of you may be asking “What is a Billet Family?” The answer is as simple as it is complex, as is everything when raising hockey players. However, when it is all said and done you are a home away from home for the players.

As a Billet Family you would open your home to these players and many will quickly become part of your own family and the relationships will continue long after they leave Omaha. Billet Families often say it is hard to see them go and that they quickly become one of the kids. The more comfortable and welcome a player feels can be the deciding factor of how well they adjust as this may be the first time they are away from home, some of the players will come from the Mid-West but others as far away as Alaska or Florida.

Players will arrive in early August just as school is about to start, last year players that became Millard Students arrived the Saturday before school resumed making it is a very speedy transition of getting unpacked, enrolled, and ready to start. Players may stay for the entire school year or some will leave to graduate with in their hometowns at the end of the season. There is always the possibility of a player leaving before the season is over or arriving mid-season to us as well.

The players have a set of rules that they are required to follow, and in order to help the coaching staff Billet Families are asked to reinforce these rules (curfews, no drug and alcohol use, attending classes, etc…). Billet Families will receive a copy of all team rules so they are familiar with them as well. We also stand by the families own house rules, as you are opening your home, making it an equal working environment for everyone.

If you are interested in hosting one or more players please complete the HOST FAMILY QUESTIONNAIRE and return it as quickly as possible so we can start matching players with families. If you have any questions or concerns please email Thomas Dean at tlodean@hotmail.com and he will be happy to help in anyway that he can.

Thank you for your support and generosity,
