*UPDATE**
To date, a total of $13,369 has been raised for the McLean Assistance Fund. Most of these funds were raised at the Motto McLean Tribute Skate held February 12th. Attendance at this event was over 100 with both old-timers and young skaters in attendance. Much thanks to all who organized, attended and donated!

Motto & Dorothy McLean Benefit Dinner

The Omaha Lancers Booster Club will be hosting a benefit spaghetti dinner for Motto & Dorothy McLean, who are still recovering from a devastating house fire.
The dinner will be held on Tuesday, March 2nd from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Georgetowne Club in Omaha. Lancers players will be on hand to bus tables and sign autographs.
The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. ALL proceeds will go directly to Motto & Dorothy!

2010 Joust Tournament a Success.

The 2010 O.M.A.H.A. Joust Tournament was held the weekend of February 12-14, 2010. A total of 20 “C” teams from Mites through Bantams participated. The entire tournament summary is HERE.

Jr. Mavs PeeWee AA Win President’s Day Tournament!
February 15th, 2010
The PeeWee AA team attended the President’s Day Chicago Cup Tournament and took first place. The team opened up the tournament with a solid 7-1 win over the Northern Express from Chicago. In the 2nd game they faced Kentwood, MI, and were defeated 1-5. The next day brought Boulder CO and after starting very slow and going down 0-4 midway through the 2nd period the Jr. Mavericks came back to tie the game at 4-4 by the end of the 3rd period. Because of goal differential the Jr. Mavericks advanced to the finals to play Kirkland MI. In the Championship Game the Jr. Mavericks prevailed in an exciting and well played overtime game by a score of 5-4.

Jr. Maverick Squirt AA’s Midwest Champions!
February 10th, 2010
The Jr. Maverick Squirt AA team played the Midwest League finals in the Quad Cities on February 6th and 7th. In the preliminary rounds they beat Des Moines 9-2, and had a tough 4-3 win against Quad Cities. The Jr. Mavs beat the KC Saints 5-0 to win the championship. Congratulations Squirt AA!

Jr. Maverick Bantam AA takes 1st place in Midwest Hockey League play with an undefeated tournament play record. Congratulations Jr. Mavs Bantam AA!

Leap for a Cure’s “Stache for Cash”

Omaha Lancer Coach Bliss Littler is participating in “Stache for Cash” for the Leap for a Cure cancer foundation. He started growing out his mustache on January 22, 2010 and will get to continue to do so as long as his donations keep coming in.
Leap for a Cure was started in Omaha by Heather Roberts’ family after she was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2008. You can read more about her story at www.leapforacure.org/
Heather was previously employed by the Omaha Lancers Hockey Organization and is still attending many Lancers games. She is a phenomenal young lady!!
How can you help?? Visit the Leap for a Cure website and donate toward this foundation. On the website is a “Donate” link. There you can enter your information, under organization type in Lancers, and in the comment box type “Bliss Littler”. Bliss is joined with his “stache” growth by other local celebrities and UNO hockey team. This Saturday will be the first elimination of 5 contestants. The next elimination will be on the following Saturday and the final’s will be February 26th!! The contestant with the most donations will be named Mr. Omaha and help this great cause.
