JV Win Big...

Omaha, NE | After suffering their first league loss a couple of weeks ago to east division rival Cedar Rapids and a few weeks off the varsity team took to the ice at home against another east division rival the Waterloo Warriors.  This was the first time that they have met since the semi final game in Ames in March that was left with a controversial finish.

Both teams were scoreless after a defensive battle over the first two periods.  All of the scoring took place in the third period with Omaha opening the goal scoring releasing the Teddy Bears from the fans fingers as the bears rained down on the ice.  Scoring that goal to open for the Junior Lancers was Brendan Hill on a net front scramble, helping on that play were Brock James and Jack Johnson.  Seconds later Waterloo tied the game on a snipe from Carter Herbst with the assist to Ethan Fox..

The hero in a game versus the Des Moines Oak Leafs scoring a last second goal at the 1 second mark, Noah Peyton put the go ahead goal behind Waterloo netminder Chase Pabst to go up 2-1 with 5:08 left in the game.  The Junior Lancers would hang on to win missing an empty net attempt in the late going; Peyton’s goal proved to be the game winner.

Luke Weberg stopped 19/20 shots faced and Waterloo goalie Chase Pabst stopped 31/33 shots.

3 Stars of the game were: 1st) Noah Peyton       2nd) Luke Weberg     3rd) Brendan Hill

Both teams go at it again Sunday morning at 9:30 am.
