U19 OMAHA LADY LANCERS WIN GOLD
AT THE CCM WINDY CITY ELITE-DALLAS!

2020 came and went. But the 200x85 CCM Windy City Girls Elite Tournament did not. After several location changes and postponed dates thanks to the Coronavirus, the Windy City tourney was finally a go! Being moved from Chicago to Grand Rapids to Detroit - the teams finally landed in Dallas, Texas Jan 8-10 where the Omaha Lady Lancers U19 squad was crowned 2020 Champions - in 2021!

The Lady Lancers barreled out of the gates battling against the Florida Alliance team in game 1. Both teams scored in the 1st period to make it a tie game until the final 1:16 of the 3rd where Omaha netted the game winner and defeated Florida Alliance 2-1.

Game 2 was a faceoff between Omaha and the Lady Grizzlies of Utah. Unfortunately the Lady Lancers could not generate any momentum as they faced a talented Utah team. Omaha was shut out by a final score of 3-0.

Saturday morning the girls rallied back and came ready to play in game 3 - a heated match-up against the current #7 ranked Nashville Jr Predators. Both teams scored 2 goals in the first period in an even back-and-forth battle. Omaha would score in the 2nd to take the lead going into intermission. The final goals for both teams were tallied in the last 6:00 of play. Nashville pulled ahead scoring their 4th and final goal of the contest with 1:44 left in the period. But Omaha would rally back and net the tying goal in the last 1:06 of the game to end in a 4-4 tie.

The Lady Lancers would get another crack at the Utah Lady Grizzlies in the semifinal game Saturday afternoon. No goals were scored until Utah tapped one in at the beginning of the 2nd. But Omaha counterattacked and never looked back, scoring 3 unanswered goals to finish off the Lady Grizzlies 3-1. 

This win advanced Omaha to the Sunday morning Championship game where once again they would confront the Jr Predators from Nashville. Omaha beats the Nashville goalie in period 2 to tally the only point in the first 2 periods of play. The scoring was unleashed in the final period of the gold medal game with Omaha scoring 3 more points including an empty-netter to seal the deal and defeat Nashville 4-1 to take home the hardware and the title 2020 CCM Windy City Girls Elite U19 AA Champions!
